Parliamentary elections will be held in Gabon on 27 September 2025 alongside municipal elections.[1]
Background
[edit]In July 2025, president Brice Oligui Nguema, who came to power following the 2023 Gabonese coup d'état, established his own political party, the Democratic Union of Builders (UDB).[1]
Electoral system
[edit]Electoral rolls underwent revision from 14 July to 12 August. Local electoral commissions were set up by 26 July, while nomination of candidates was held from 27 July to 7 August.[1]
Candidates
[edit]There are around 1,600 candidates competing for 145 seats in parliament, while around 17,000 individuals are competing for various municipal and departmental council positions.[2]
Campaign
[edit]Campaigning began on 17 September.[2]
